Minutes before the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson’s big announcement on ending lockdown, Mark Logan MP hosted an exclusive virtual roundtable event for Bolton North East’s hospitality businesses.
BEIS Minister for Small Businesses - Paul Scully, was the special guest.
Over 20 leading hospitality business owners and local politicians (including the Leader of Bolton Council, David Greenhalgh and Cllr Hilary Fairclough) attended this bespoke event for Bolton North East.
In the meeting, businesses asked for sufficient preparation time to ensure that stock does not go to waste and reflected on the relaxation of planning laws to allow for outdoor trading.
Echoing this sentiment, Mark Logan relayed his constituents’ ideas to the Prime Minister in the House of Commons, live on BBC News.
Addressing the Prime Minister, Mark Logan MP asked:
“Can the Prime Minister ensure that we allow businesses enough time to improve our hospitality operation data and make the dates in 2021 utterly delectable”.
The Prime Minister responded, citing the 12th April for outdoor hospitality as a clear date to work towards.
This is an encouraging step for many hospitality businesses in Bolton, many of which will now look to welcome customers in an outdoor setting.
Mark Logan is determined to make outdoor trading more seamless to provide a lifeline for Bolton’s hospitality industry, allowing more businesses to reopen in Bolton.
