Mark Logan MP has raised community concerns in a virtual meeting with Great Manchester Police, ranging from speeding to antisocial behaviour.
Following numerous understandable complaints from constituents, the MP for Bolton North East, Mark Logan, has addressed the growing concerns on dangerous driving across Bolton North East to Great Manchester Police (GMP).
Chief Inspector Mike Russell from GMP explained that there has been a national surge in speeding during the COVID-19 pandemic due to lower levels of traffic circulating.
In order to seek a resolution, the GMP are approaching this issue from various angles including education, enforcement and engagement.
Mark Logan welcomed this news and said:
“I understand that GMP are putting measures in place to create a safer community, these enforcements will play a significant role in adhering to local speed limits and above all promote safer driving.”
Further, Bolton will host two new hand-held cameras to monitor speeding for data collection. Usage will be shared between each local community. Great Manchester Police agreed that ensuring the safety of the community is paramount.
Across the country police have been extra vigilant in protecting citizens during protests following the events of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Mike Russell explained that the team at GMP have plans in place to safely facilitate potential protests and have been monitoring the situation on a daily basis.
Certain protests have led to anti-social behaviour, and Mark Logan is urging our community to display calm and is emphasising the importance of maintaining social distancing in order to keep Boltonians safe during the tail-end of a difficult period of time in lockdown.
