Bolton MP Seeks Government Support for Ugly Installations Across Borough
Mark Logan MP has echoed the urgency to “keep the pressure on” in a Westminster Hall debate on the impact of 5G mast installations on communities across Greater Manchester.
Addressing Julia Lopez MP, the Minister of State for Data and Digital Infrastructure, he conveyed Boltonian’s strength of feeling about the installations:
“I have residents in Astley Bridge, Harwood, Bradshaw, Bromley Cross and Egerton who are absolutely royally peeved off about the installation of masts going up around the constituency.”
“We must keep constant pressure on IX Wireless.”
The MP recently visited Chale Green, a cul-de-sac in Bradshaw, where a ghastly metal pole had been erected without residents’ knowledge or consent.
Residents gathered at the site to protest the 50-metre pole, calling it an eyesore.
The MP for Bolton North East has been vocal in his campaign to oppose the installation of masts across the constituency, when they began to crop up across the borough last year.
Mark Logan MP has met with IX Wireless, the internet service provider who are behind the installations to ensure that standards are met, residents are consulted, and a solution is found that suits the community.
He has also escalated the case to the Minister for Levelling Up and the Minister for Data and Infrastructure for more support on the matter.
Cllr Mudasir Dean, who was also in attendance at the protest, commented saying:
“Residents have every right to be angry. This has been going on for over a year now with much deliberation with IX Wireless to ensure residents have their say.
"IX Wireless’s standards have fallen short, yet again. This must stop.”
