Mark Logan MP has joined Bolton Police for ‘Operation Portman’ to crackdown on dangerous driving in the borough.
The MP for Bolton North East has been vocal about his campaign to ensure safer streets across Bolton since he was elected a year ago.
He has joined numerous organised Community Speedwatch initiatives, raised the issue in the House of Commons, as well as lobbied Greater Manchester Combined Authority to secure funding specifically for Bolton’s roads.
Mark Logan joined Sergeant Phil Brown and his team in Astley Bridge to learn more about Operation Portman. Sharing a video to his Facebook page he asked Sergeant Brown to explain the key messages of the Operation.
Commenting Mark Logan MP said:
“It was great to understand first-hand the action that is being taken in Bolton to crackdown on this serious issue.
Week in, week out, we hear numerous reports of dangerous driving across the borough and I am committed to working alongside Bolton Police to get these down.”
Commenting Sergeant Brown said:
“As we are coming into Winter, it is important to slow down and take care. It is dark and the temperature has really dropped, so it is important to take into consideration the road conditions.
Operation Portman is Bolton Police’s response to an increase in road deaths across the borough.
This is really to drive home road safety, part of that is enforcement - getting out there to identify road users who are committing offences. It’s also about education so that road users understand the dangers on the roads.
